Let me just state for the record, that I'm having a great very lazy, relaxing summer. With that said, I'm a big ball of unmotivation for most things, including blogging. I don't really lack for ideas, just the carry through with them (hmmmm.....kind of the story of my life) I haven't finished the Amazing Race posts. You don't even know that I've been on vacation to Vegas and back.
Instead of covering either of those items, I would like instead to tell you about a favorite new addiction. Boston.com is the home of the Boston Globe online newspaper. I enjoy staying current and have long enjoyed reading most of my news online here. Within the last couple months I stumbled upon Meredith Goldstein's blog called "Love Letters". Meredith is the "relationship expert" and answers letters from the lovelorn and also hosts a Chat, on Wednesdays I believe. I got sucked in by an adult daughter confronted by her parents divorce, and someone concerend over someone moving across country to be with them.
The topics and Meredith's repsonses are always interesting, but what's even better are the readers' responses. Hundreds of people comment every day, and some of them are excellent and hillarious. There is one reader called "Rico". Rico writes in the third person, and is often a big mush ball. I find "his" repsonses very funny. Many of the other regular readers and responders however don't really love Rico and will dump on him. "Hoss" is also really good; sometimes really blunt, but truthful. Sometimes a couple hundred responses in, the letter writer will actually comment back and let the readers know additional information or to let us know what advice they are thinking of taking.
If you live around here you know that the Boston Globe is in financial trouble. One of the ideas being batted around is to have people pay to use it- and I love reading this column enough that I would consider ponying up some cash to help the Globe! I know a lot of you get bored at work, so check this out (before they start charging)-bet you get hooked too!
